This Splendid 19th Century Burr Walnut Davenport is in great condition having a Carved Detailed Galleried Back to the top, flowing down to the Green Leather Inserted Writing Slope, opening to reveal Two Small Drawers and a large Dummy Drawer below, fitted with a Brass Lock and Stay, (No Key). To the right as you look at it from the front there is a Secret Stationery Drawer, that open out alongside, fitted with Pen or Nib Compartments, and Ink well compartments, following on down to Four graduated Drawers below, the top one fitted with compartments, all of Dovetailed construction, running smoothly, fitted with Brass Locks and Escutcheon's, and Wooden Turned Knob Handles are also fitted, all supported on a pair of Carved front Legs, all resting upon four Wooden feet with Castors. To the Left there are Four Dummy Drawers fitted, again with Wooden knob Handles and fitted with Brass Escutcheon's. This is a lovely piece full of Character and Charm. Green leather is a replacement.
