Antiques in Hereford, Tall Trees Antiques in Herefordshire,

This Lovely 20th Century Mahogany Bureau by JAS. Shoolbred & Co. is in good condition having a Decorative Edged Writing Slope opening to reveal a fitted Interior comprising Compartments and Three Drawers with Wooden turned Handles, the writing surface is supported via slide out supports underneath when it is opened and retracted when closed, there is a very slight warp to the writing surface but if a Key is obtained for the lock then this would fix the problem! Below are Three Drawers, of Dovetailed construction, Cockbeaded, running smooth, the Makers Label inside top Drawer. James Shoolbred was a linen draper of Scottish descent. In 1814 he formed the partnership, Shoolbred & Co., which moved to 153 Tottenham Court Road in 1817. The firm gradually expanded to include woollen drapery, silk mercery, haberdashery and carpet supplies. All resting upon Four Ball and Claw feet with Carving to the Knees. A nice usable Bureau.
